Central Kitsap – Black Hills @ Capital

Starting off I want to say how AMAZING all the efforts were today – I saw sooo many ladies really competing well today and it really showed in the results.  We had 37 individual season records and 2 of our relays put Season Bests out as well – those are truly spectacular results, particularly based on the weather we had today – not awful but not great either.

We lost a very close match – 71-65 but we competed very well.

Here are some of the things that stuck out to me today:

  1. Hannah W competed in 4 events today (a first for her) and set a personal best in EVERY one of those 4 events – Long jump, Triple Jump, 300 hurdles and the 4×400. That is a Tough day and she totally knocked it out of the park
  2. Hannah F. stepped in for a sick teammate in the 4×400 and set a personal best for the 400 J  it is so nice to have tough team minded kids ready to step up when you need it.  I know she was more than a little scared and did GREAT
  3. Our Javelin throwers continue to totally crush the event.  Gwen, Sophia, , McKenzie, Tanna, Elise and Faith ALL had personal bests today (more later)
  4. It is also really great for me to see how well we are supporting and cheering for each other during the meet and how much pride we have for our team.
  5. All 4 girls in the 800 had season bests, Payton, Naomi, Aven and Anna
  6. 7 girls had bests in the 1600 today – led by Audrey’s 23 sec improvement and Inanna’s 18. We also saw Lauren lower he league leading time by another 5 seconds
  7. Kelsey and Ellie continue to have strong seasons by filling in all across the track and the field and putting forth great efforts along the way!

Record book entries:

Running events –

800m –   Payton checks in as the #9 senior

1600m – Lauren Moves up to the #4 senior marks

3200m – Naomi runs her first 3200 and checks in at #12 ALL TIME – and the #5 freshman time –

Javelin – Gwen moved up to the #17 overall spot with a 9 foot PR today – Sophia also had a 9 foot PR and put herself into the #9 freshman spot moving Ellie down to #10 and they are just 6” away from making the all-time top 25 list.

Next up:  This weekend we have a varsity only invitational in Renton (Renton SD stadium) The Arnie Young invite is a great event and really top quality competition – for those going the bus will LEAVE Capital at 8:00am and return about 6pm.

Spring Break:  We will be having practices for those who are still in town.  I will send out all the schedules as soon as I confirm with all the coaches so that I don’t send out wrong information.
